Does Trader Joe’s Sell Pregnancy Tests? (Answered)

does trader joes sell pregnancy tests

Trader Joe’s is a quality grocery store, but it isn’t known for stocking products that other major grocery stores do. It prefers the more unique products. So, this does beg the question; does Trader Joe’s sell pregnancy tests?

No. Trader Joe’s does not sell pregnancy tests. They do not sell anything like this in their store, we assume because the tests likely wouldn’t be selling often enough to make it worthwhile.

Let’s explain.

Overview of Pregnancy Tests

There are two types of pregnancy tests. You have those that can test your blood and those that will test your urine. You will only find the latter in your average grocery store. Most blood tests are administered at the doctor, although you may find a few of them in pharmacies.

Urine tests detect a hormone known as HCG, which is detectable when a person is pregnant. The hormone can be detected around 10 days after conception.

For the most part, there isn’t a massive difference between the cheaper and the more expensive pregnancy tests. The more expensive pregnancy tests are a bit more sensitive, which means that they may be able to detect that you are pregnant a couple of days sooner.

However, if you are looking to see whether you are pregnant after you have missed your period, then all tests are going to have roughly the same amount of accuracy.

Availability of Pregnancy Tests at Trader Joe’s

Trader Joe’s does not stock pregnancy tests. In fact, they have very few pharmaceutical products in their stores. They would prefer to be filling their shelves up with awesome food products, with less space dedicated to products that probably won’t sell all that often.

It is likely that Trader Joe’s does not sell pregnancy tests because they are low sellers. Sure, a lot of people do use pregnancy tests, but it isn’t the sort of thing that you are going to head to your local grocery store just to buy.

If you wanted one of these tests, then you would be heading to a pharmacy or something similar. Trader Joe’s probably doesn’t see any sense in stocking these pregnancy tests when they know that they are not going to be making that much money from them.

There are so many far better products that they could put in their place. In addition to this, pregnancy tests tend to be an item that is at a high risk of theft.

They are often stolen from stores and since Trader Joe’s doesn’t have a huge number of staff members in their buildings (to keep prices low), this is likely not something that they want to be dealing with.

There doesn’t really seem to be a huge number of complaints about the stocking of pregnancy tests at Trader Joe’s. Normally, when this company doesn’t stock a certain product, you can find a whole host of people mentioning it online, often demanding that it is brought into stock.

However, it seems as if most people know that this is never going to be the type of product that Trader Joe’s stocks, so they aren’t too fussed about it.

As we said, the vast majority of people that want a pregnancy test are going to be heading to another store anyway. Trader Joe’s is never going to be the first name to spring to mind!

Alternative Options for Pregnancy Tests

Thankfully, pregnancy tests are not too difficult to track down. Online stores will have one of them delivered to you by the next day.

This is the route that we suggest that you go down. Sure, it is going to be a bit of a wait, but you will find that pregnancy tests online are far cheaper than anything bought from the store. Since pregnancy tests tend to be expensive enough as it is, it is nice to be able to save a few dollars on your purchase, right?

Of course, if online ordering isn’t an option and you need an answer right away, then you can head to any pharmacy and pick up a pregnancy test.

They will likely have several different options available, but this won’t matter too much. Pretty much every pregnancy test works in exactly the same way, and if you believe that you are pregnant then chances are that you have already missed your period. This means that even cheap tests are going to be very sensitive.

Failing that, head to any major grocery store that isn’t Trader Joe’s and you will likely find a ton of pregnancy tests in stock. Just make a beeline for the pharmacy section and you will find all the products that you need.

You may even find that your local convenience store will have some pregnancy tests in stock. However, most of them will keep them behind the checkout, so you will have to ask.

Again, this is due to the fact that these products are at a high risk of theft, and convenience stores tend to be targeted a lot more for that than your average grocery store.

Honestly, no matter where you live, there will always be somewhere that sells pregnancy tests.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Cheap Pregnancy Tests Accurate?

Cheap pregnancy tests are accurate. The only difference between the cheaper tests and the more expensive tests is that the latter will allow you to see whether you are pregnant far sooner.

Although, it is only going to be by a couple of days. If you can only afford a cheap pregnancy test, then that is fine.

Do Convenience Stores Sell Pregnancy Tests?

That is going to depend on the convenience store. A good number of the larger ones do. Although, you would probably be best going to a pharmacy if you are looking for a quality test.

Final Thoughts

Trader Joe’s does not stock pregnancy tests, and it is unlikely that it ever will stock pregnancy tests. It wouldn’t be a big seller for them.

Any other major grocery store or convenience store will have them in stock.
