Does Trader Joe’s Sell Parchment Paper? (Answered)

Does Trader Joe's Sell Parchment Paper

As a grocery store, you would expect Trader Joe’s to carry a wide variety of products. This includes parchment paper. The perfect option for bakers that want to cook their food evenly while keeping their pans well-protected. They can also perform plenty of other roles when it comes to baking. But, does Trader Joe’s sell parchment paper?

No. Trader Joe’s does not sell parchment paper. In fact, they sell little in the way of baking accessories. There may even be some baking ingredients that they do not stock. We can only imagine that Trader Joe’s is avoiding adding parchment paper to their range due to how slow of a seller it will be.

Let’s give you some more information. We want you to walk away with the full story, after all.

Trader Joe’s does not offer parchment paper of any type in their stores.

You would think that this is odd, but foil is a much more popular product than parchment paper. You can’t even find that for sale in Trader Joe’s, and people have been asking the store to introduce foil into their range for years.

While we can only speculate why Trader Joe’s does not stock parchment paper. Like many of the essentials that the company doesn’t keep in their stores, they don’t exactly release statements about why the products are not being sold.

It is likely that Trader Joe’s isn’t really known as a place to buy baking products. There are even some key baking ingredients that you can’t find in any of their stores (certain types of flour), and this probably means that they do not wish to stock an entire range of baking goods.

Parchment paper is mostly used for baking, and that probably didn’t make the cut.

Not to mention the fact that parchment paper probably isn’t a massive seller. It will take up a lot of space on their shelves. In our experience, Trader Joe’s only wants to sell products that they are going to be selling insanely quickly.

This is why you will often find that Trader Joe’s has discontinued products. When Trader Joe’s discontinues a product it means that the company didn’t find it worth selling.

While we cannot predict the future, we seriously doubt that Trader Joe’s is ever going to bring parchment paper into stock.

There are plenty of other cooking accessories (e.g. foil) that they would need to bring into stock a long time before they even considered the idea of parchment paper.

If you want parchment paper then you will need to head to one of the other grocery stores. Walmart should always have parchment paper in stock. In fact, they will probably have plenty of different types of parchment paper.

We recommend using a non-bleached parchment paper like this one on Amazon because unbleached parchment paper does not contain chlorine or other potentially harmful chemicals.

Ways to Use Parchment Paper

While you can’t get your parchment paper from Trader Joe’s, we do not want you to leave this page empty-handed, so we are going to give you a bit of advice on the sorts of things that you can do with your parchment paper.

Obviously, you will know that parchment paper is used for baking. This means that you can use it to line your baking trays, pots, etc. When you use parchment paper, you do two things:

  • Protect the baking tray and the food
  • Help the food to cook much more evenly.

This means that not only do you end up with better-tasting food but you have less clean-up!

You can use parchment paper at many points during the baking process. For example, some people will use them to line a mixing bowl to prevent sticking to the sides. You may need to tape it into place, but it is possible.

You don’t even need to cook with it. Parchment paper is a very protective paper. You can wrap food up in it to store in the fridge to eat later on. Some will even use parchment paper to make fancy gifts for their friends and family.

Remember, it is important that you store your parchment paper properly. Keep it away from heat sources. You will also want to keep it dry.

While parchment paper can put up with heat (it has been designed for use in the oven, after all), you don’t want it to burn. If the parchment paper burns then you can’t cook with it.

Considerations When Buying Parchment Paper

Your main point of consideration is that you are buying parchment paper and not wax paper. Wax paper looks the same but it cannot be used in the oven.

If the parchment paper doesn’t say that it can be used in the oven (should say heat-resistant) then you shouldn’t be using it for baking. It will ruin your food. A lot of people have made that mistake before.

The parchment paper should almost always be biodegradable and compostable. However, in a mission to make their parchment paper seem ‘better’, there are some companies that are ditching this philosophy. Don’t buy parchment paper that is not listed as biodegradable.

It is bad for the environment and it will have absolutely no impact on your cooking. It just feels better to the touch.

Thankfully, you don’t have to consider any special dietary restrictions with parchment paper. They are all made from paper that has been coated in light silicone. As far as we know, this isn’t contrary to any specific diet.

One last thing to look out for is non-bleached parchment paper. Non-bleached parchment paper is a healthier option as there are no harsh chemicals in the paper that can be released when baking.

Final Thoughts

Trader Joe’s will not have parchment paper in stock. They don’t even sell foil. They are not all that brilliant for baking products, to begin with.

If you want to buy parchment paper then you will need to head to a larger grocery store e.g. Walmart.

It is always worth having parchment paper in your kitchen, even if you don’t bake regularly. Parchment paper is great for all types of cooking. It can also be used to store food in the fridge, or even wrap up edible gifts for your friends and family.
