Does Trader Joe’s Sell Batteries? (Answered)

does trader joes sell batteries

Trader Joe’s is a great grocery store, but you may not find everything in these stores. In fact, due to the business model, the store is severely lacking in some areas. But, does Trader Joe’s sell batteries?

No. Trader Joe’s will not stock batteries. They have decided that there is simply no point in keeping them in stock. It is not an original product and there are plenty of other stores that sell batteries. It is unlikely that Trader Joe’s will ever have batteries in their range.

Let’s explain why.

About Trader Joe’s

Trader Joe’s is an American grocery store, although it isn’t going to be the same sort of grocery store that Walmart and Costco are.

Outside of a few selected products, Trader Joe’s only sells own-brand products. This is because the company takes a stance to ensure that the products that they have for sale are affordable and of a high quality.

Because Trader Joe’s stores are normally quite small, they do things a little bit differently than other businesses.

For example, you may find them discontinuing products if they are not selling well enough. However, the most important thing is that they are not going to sell everything that a standard grocery store would. In fact, they are going to be sorely lacking in a few rather important products.

Trader Joe’s is a great place to do your regular grocery store shopping. However, it is not a place where you can get everything. It is more of a side store. But, enough of that, let’s talk about the batteries.

Availability of Batteries at Trader Joe’s

Trader Joe’s does not stock batteries at all. We can only speculate as to why since they have never put out an official statement that says that they would not be keeping batteries in stock.

It is likely that Trader Joe’s just didn’t want to have to deal with the idea of stocking countless different types of batteries.

As anybody who goes into Trader Joe’s will likely know, this is a company that spends a huge amount of its time only stocking products that sell quickly (hence why Trader Joe’s is always out of stock of some products). Batteries likely wouldn’t sell anywhere quickly enough for Trader Joe’s.

In addition to this, Trader Joe’s does prefer to go down the route of cheaper products with their own brand label on them.

Cheap batteries are never great and Trader Joe’s almost certainly does not wish to have its name tied to batteries that just aren’t going to do a great job. Remember, Trader Joe’s is all about customer satisfaction.

If they sold cheap batteries then people would be constantly coming back and trying to get refunds. It would cost them a lot of money and there would be very little gain.

We doubt that Trader Joe’s is ever going to introduce batteries into their stores. It wouldn’t make much sense for them to do so and it certainly goes against their business model.

Where to Get Batteries If Not at Trader Joe’s

While Trader Joe’s won’t sell you batteries, batteries are hardly going to be that difficult to get hold of.

Pretty much every grocery store outside of Trader Joe’s will have batteries in stock. We bet that you can go into Walmart or Costco right now and buy pretty much any battery that you want. This includes car batteries.

If you are looking for something a little bit more specialist then we said that you head to a local electronics store. In our experience, these stores tend to stock far better products than you would find in a grocery store anyway.

This is important. It is all well and good buying cheap batteries, but cheap batteries never last. This means that, in the long run, you would probably end up spending more cash on them.

You can also find plenty of places that sell batteries online. Sites like Amazon do a complete selection of batteries, so why not add a couple of them on to your next Amazon order?

Considerations When Purchasing Batteries

The main thing that you will need to consider when buying cheap batteries is the size of them. If you aren’t sure what size battery you need, there are plenty of comparison charts available online that you can use. Unless you are looking for a car battery. if you are looking for a car battery then it should say on the battery which size it is.

If you can, try to get lithium batteries. They are a bit more expensive but they tend to last a whole lot longer. If you can’t get lithium batteries then try to get the best batteries that you can afford. Even spending a couple of extra dollars will give you substantially better batteries.

If you want to do your bit for the environment then you may even want to consider rechargeable batteries.

You can find rechargeable batteries in all popular sizes nowadays, so this shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Again, quality is going to be a big factor here.

If you have old batteries that you want to get rid of then it is important that you recycle them properly. Most stores that sell batteries should have a battery recycling point.

Under no circumstances should you put batteries in the trash. They will just go to a landfill. The batteries won’t break down in a landfill, but they will leak the chemicals inside into the environment. If everybody threw their batteries away then ecosystems would be destroyed.

Final Thoughts

Trader Joe’s does not sell batteries in their store. It is unlikely that they are ever going to stock batteries. The range is too big and they likely wouldn’t be a moneymaker for the company.

Every other major grocery store chain should have batteries in stock, even if they only have the basic types.

If you want to ensure that you are not constantly replacing your batteries then we suggest that you spend a bit more cash on getting some quality batteries. They will last longer.
