Does Trader Joe’s Have Tampons? (Answered)

Does Trader Joe's Have Tampons

Trader Joe’s is an incredibly popular grocery store. However, unlike other major grocery stores, it doesn’t stock everything. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that people wonder whether Trader Joe’s has tampons in stock.

Trader Joe’s does not sell tampons at all. In fact, they do not sell any products for periods i.e. no pads, menstrual cups, etc. They have no plans to introduce these products in the future.

Let’s give you the reasons why this may be the case, shall we?

Overview of Trader Joe’s as a Grocery Store Chain

Trader Joe’s is a grocery chain that mostly specializes in food and drink products.

As you may know, the company sells mostly its own-brand products. These products are incredibly affordable and yet meet incredibly high standards when it comes to quality.

This is why so many people opt to shop with them, and often why people are willing to pay a premium price on products sold by Trader Joe’s when they can’t get them directly from the store.

Trader Joe’s mostly only sells food and drink products, though. Outside of this, their product range is minimal.

Trader Joe’s does not keep tampons on their shelves. They never have done so.

While it is impossible for us to know the reasons why Trader Joe’s does not have tampons in stock, it is likely because they are trying to focus on the food and drink range.

Many of their stores do not have a huge amount of space in them. This means that they don’t really want to load them up with a ton of products.

Sure, tampons are popular. However, if they introduced tampons into their store they would need to keep a variety of sizes. This is going to take up a lot of shelf space.

Chances are they wouldn’t really be able to be competitive with their own-brand tampon products either. After all, most women have their favorites when it comes to tampon brands and it can be ridiculously difficult to convince them to switch.

While it is impossible for us to say for sure, if we had to take a guess we would say that it is unlikely that Trader Joe’s will ever introduce tampons into their product range. There are a lot of products that they would need to introduce before they got to this point.

This means that if you need tampons, you will need to head to a different store. Thankfully, Trader Joe’s should have other stores that do sell tampons pretty close by so this shouldn’t cause you too many issues.

Alternatives for Purchasing Tampons at Trader Joe’s

Most Trader Joe’s will be located close to another store that sells tampons. This means that if you are in dire need for some tampons and still want to shop at Trader Joe’s you will be able to hit up both stores.

Our recommendation is that you try and order tampons online, though. Yes. It can be a little bit inconvenient to do that when you are in dire need of them.

However, you can order several months of supply online for next-to-no cost. Only when you are in an emergency will you need to go into an actual store.

You may also find that there are some subscription services that will sell you tampons each month. Although, these are not always ideal if your periods are a bit more on the sporadic side of things.

Of course, all the big grocery stores e.g. Walmart, Costco, etc. will always have tampons in stock. However, as you know, they are not going to sell the same products that Trader Joe’s has.

Considerations When Purchasing Tampons

There are a few things that you will probably need to consider when buying tampons. It may take a few cycles to know which one is right for you.

Applicator

Not all tampons will have an applicator. If you want to save a bit of cash then you can opt for a tampon with no applicator. However, do bear in mind that these are going to be much more difficult to use if you are new to using tampons.

Cardboard and plastic applicators exist. Cardboard is the cheaper of the two applicators, but plastic applicators are much easier to use. Of course, plastic applicators are going to be worse for the environment.

Size

If you have a heavy flow, then you will want to opt for the larger size of tampons. Companies do change the labeling of their tampons a little bit but, roughly in order, the sizes are:

  • Light
  • Regular
  • Super
  • Super Plus

Brand

Most women are not brand loyal. However, it may be worth checking out a few brands. This is because different brands can feel different. It will allow you to get a feel for which type is right for you.

Alternatives to Tampons

It is fair to say that tampons are not great for the environment. They don’t break down easily, and when millions are being used every single day, it really does start to add up.

If at all possible, you may want to look into more environmentally-friendly options such as a menstrual cup. Unfortunately, Trader Joe’s will not sell those either.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Trader Joe’s Have Organic Tampons?

Trader Joe’s, unfortunately, does not sell any tampon products at all. Their range of health products is incredibly slim.

It is unlikely that they will be introducing tampons, organic or otherwise, into their range in the near future.

Final Thoughts

Trader Joe’s does not sell tampons and it is unlikely that they will ever sell tampons in their store.

The reason why Trader Joe’s does not sell tampons is likely down to the fact that it is not really something that fits in their product range. Their product range mostly focuses on food and drink.

If you do wish to buy tampons (and it isn’t an emergency) then we suggest that you pick-up your tampons online or look into a subscription service.
