They are very well known for the unique selection of healthy foods and produce coupled with low prices. This creates a recipe that keeps their customers coming back for more every week. Trader Joe’s also has seasonal items which helps keep the variety in their store.
Due to recent times, more and more people are starting to become aware of what they put in their bodies when it comes to food. This means more consumers are shifting towards whole, nutrient dense foods to live a better and healthy lifestyle.
Kelp noodles being both low in calories, as well as nutrient dense, makes this product one to look out for. It’s no wonder why many customers are trying to purchase it from Trader Joe’s, as they are considered a healthy store when it comes to ingredients and food options.
Unfortunately they do not stock these noodles, however this can always change in the future. Trader Joe’s strives in bringing the best products to their customers, and where there is demand, there usually comes supply.

What Are Kelp Noodles?
Kelp noodles are made from seaweed. It’s made by drying strips of kelp and removing the outer green and brown layers, leaving the middle white portion. This white portion is then shaped into noodles. It is gluten, grain, and carb free which makes it an excellent low calorie alternative to your favorite noodle.
Alternative is the most appropriate way to describe this as the flavor and texture is not really comparable to pasta or rice. These noodles have a soft, but fibrous texture that can take some time to get used to.
Although this food contains little to no calories, it is packed full of nutrients such as vitamin k, calcium, and iron. These noodles are comparable to Shirataki noodles and don’t have much of a taste. They do however, soak up the taste of whatever you are cooking them in.
Kelp noodles are popularly used in stir-fry’s, soups, pasta dishes, and even in salads since their original texture is crispy.

Availability of Kelp Noodles at Trader Joe’s
We tried a few methods to verify whether or not Trader Joe’s actually sold kelp noodles.
Online Research – We first looked on the Trader Joe’s website. By doing a quick search for Kelp Noodles under their search bar, we were unable to retrieved any relevant search results. It is also worth noting that Trader Joe’s does not keep every item on their website that they sell in stores.
Calling Trader Joe’s – The next way we researched if they had kelp noodles was buy calling one of the stores listed on their website. We contacted a local Trader Joe’s in the city of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Unfortunately the associate was unable to locate kelp noodles at their location.
Visiting My Local Trader Joe’s – I am an avid shopper when it comes to Trader Joe’s. I love their frozen food entree as well as their baked goods section.
However, I don’t stop my shopping there, as I do like to branch out and purchase items I never have before. I eat a low calorie noodle called Shirataki noodles, which did spark my interest when it comes to kelp noodles. Unfortunately, I was unable to find kelp noodles and my Trader Joe’s Store.
Alternatives to Kelp Noodles at Trader Joe’s
Although you currently can’t find kelp noodles at Trader Joe’s, they do offer a few different alternatives for you to purchase that come close.
Trader Joe’s Zucchini Spirals – Zucchini spirals are pretty much what they sound like. These are noodles that are shaped out of spiraled zucchini. They are low in calorie, but high in potassium which makes them a great alternative to pasta noodles.
Trader Joe’s Hearts of Palms Pasta – This is a very unique pasta that is derived from the center bark of palm trees. They have a mild pasta flavor which makes them great for many different types of dishes since they will soak up the flavor with whatever you cook them with.
Trader Joe’s Kohlrabi Vegetable Pasta Noodles – These are a fairly new vegetable pasta that have found their way onto the shelves at Trader Joe’s. I didn’t know what Kohlrabi was, but after a quick search I found out that it is a cousin to broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and kale. This means it is nutrient packed and also low in calories. These noodles are great at soaking up whatever flavors you throw at it.
Another great alternative to kelp noodles is Shirataki noodles. Unfortunately Trader Joe’s does not sell this noodle, but you can find it at your local Whole Foods Market, or Sprouts
Final Thoughts
Kelp noodles are an awesome alternative to pasta and rice noodles. They offer little to no calories, but are packed with essential nutrients that our bodies need on a daily basis.
Unfortunately Trader Joe’s does not stock kelp noodles at this time. We were unable to find kelp noodles on their website, in our local store, as well as calling other stores in our area.
To our dismay, we can only hope that Trader Joe’s chooses to stock this food sometime in the future. Many items are discontinued while new items are brought in on a consistent basis.
